this is a very busy week getting ready for the WSO paintout at the Salem Carousel, the hanging of my work at Cascade Bakery (will be up on Fri. the 1st., hanging work at the Spinnaker Place building and last but not least spending time with our little grandson.
So, when I figure out how to get the pictures on here it will probably be next week.

Out of Chaos springs

Having talked about bones and artifacts, I am springing ahead, out of the compost into FLORALS.
At the Art Speaks Are You Listening show in Salem, (corner of Liberty and State) we are concentrating on florals to celebrate spring and bring color and life into an old building.

My favorite way to paint is to create an environment on my surface in which I find objects, shapes and color messages. The trick is to eliminate the bits that don't belong.

My materials include all of the watermedia paints and mediums, sometimes finishing with a spray of clear acrylic or a cold wax covering. My goal is to give the viewer something that keeps on giving, a way to find something new and inspiring in every day.

Now to be a little perverse, I am posting a vineyard that is in full leaf, probably with grapes almost ready to harvest.

Ive been thinking about bones and artifacts. I find things that are used and beginning to be ground down to the atoms from which they came fascinating.
I like to combine patinas and shapes and colors and found objects and pieces of old tin and copper in collages using the wonderful mediums found in acrylics to preserve them in this state.
